Converting to standard disc brakes, as installed from factory on more powerful models or cars with automatic transmission, is the first step in improving the brake system on a drum braked VW Beetle or Karmann Ghia.

With this conversion kit Beetles or Karmann Ghia's from 1968 onwards can be easily converted to PCD 5x112 and front disc brakes without replacing the original drum spindles. The main part of this set is our street-legal CSP Products drum spindle to disc brake conversion kit. The forged caliper brackets are simply bolt-on to the drum brake attachment points on the spindle. Now the calipers and discs can be fitted to the drum brake spindle. After replacing the rear brake drums, wheels with PCD 5x112 can be installed all around.

This conversion kit contains of:

• CSP Products drum spindle to disc brake conversion kit
• 2 calipers with pads
• 2 brake discs front PCD 5x112, optionally drilled
• 2 wheel bearing sets frot
• 2 brake hoses front
• 2 brake drums rear PCD 5x112

The existing hub caps, clamp nuts, wheel bearing washers and rear axle nuts are taken over from the original brake/spindle and are not included in this set.

This set fits VW Beetle and Karmann Ghia (Type-14) from 1968 onwards (from chassis 118 857 240--) with ball joint front axle and 29 mm wheel bearing journal. (Not suitable for Beetle 1302/1303).
The standard front drum brake including backing plates must be removed for installation. It is not possible to install dust protection plates.

Make sure that you use a master cylinder without pressure valves that is designed for use on a disc brake system.
